Aptos partners with Yellow Card for gas-free stablecoin transfers across Africa

Aptos has been among the most active altcoin projects lately.

Besides increased ETF conversations, it has upgraded its ecosystem by introducing Shelby, a decentralized protocol.

Also, Aptos Labs CEO has joined the United States CFTC subcommittee to help shape digital asset regulations.

In another groundbreaking move that underscores the project’s dedication to expanding adoption, Aptos Labs has teamed up with fintech firm Yellow Card.

The collaboration aims to introduce gas-free and instant stablecoin transactions across African nations.

The move reflects Africa’s growing influence in the crypto revolution.

Aptos Labs’ Head of Payment, Alex Heuer, commented on the collaboration, stating:

We’re excited to support Yellow Card in bringing millions of users seamless access to USDT and USDC across 20 countries.

Africa is leading the way in stablecoin adoption for practical use cases, and our zero-free, instant settlement capabilities are perfectly suited to meet this demand.

The collaboration combines Yellow Card’s massive financial network and Aptos’ advanced blockchain infrastructure to ensure more affordable, accessible, and faster stablecoin transfers for day-to-day users across the continent.

Meanwhile, the alliance comes as Sub-Saharan Africa sees a crypto boom, with digital asset users topping 54 million.

These enthusiasts often face challenges, including complex platforms and high fees, when using crypto to transact.

Aptos and Yellow Card aim to eliminate these barriers.

Supporting crypto adoption in emerging economies

Africa’s mobile-first, young generation is rapidly embracing digital solutions due to obstacles like unreliable and limited traditional banking systems.

Nevertheless, these users have faced various hurdles, with gas fees as the primary one.

These are transaction charges that users incur when using blockchains.

Meanwhile, these fees can be overwhelmingly high for most Africans transferring small amounts of money via digital assets.

Aptos, known for its scalability and speed, introduces gas-sponsored transactions.

With that, users can receive and send stablecoins without paying gas charges.

That will likely improve accessibility in the region.

Yellow Card’s Director of Strategy, Gillian Darko, says:

By eliminating gas fees and enabling instant settlement on the robust, next-generation Layer1 Aptos network, we’re empowering millions to access faster, more affordable USDT and other stablecoins for everything from cross-border transfers to everyday purchases.

Yellow Card is a recognized name in Africa. The fintech company operates an accessible and compliant platform.

It allows users to buy, store, and sell digital assets using local payment options in over 20 African nations, including Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, and Ghana.

With Aptos integration, Yellow Card users will enjoy gas-free stablecoin transactions.

Individuals will enjoy faster, simpler, and cheaper crypto transfers for daily transactions, remittances, and online commerce.
