Apple Unveiled New iPhone SE, Its First Low-Cost Smartphone in 4 Years

Despite all the turbulence caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) remains committed to its schedule. On Wednesday, April 15, Apple launched its affordable handset – the new iPhone SE. The new iPhone SE comes at an affordable price point starting at $399 for the 64GB version.

What New iPhone SE from Apple Can Offer

Thus, the new iPhone SE is much affordable to its last year’s premium flagship handsets like iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. The good thing is that the iPhone SE hosts the same A13 Bionic chipset as seen in the iPhone 11. This is so far the fastest chipset packed in a handset by Apple. Thus, the new iPhone SE is equally capable of handling the most demanding tasks, just like the iPhone 11.

The iPhone SE has adopted its design cue from iPhone 8. It hosts a 4.7-inch screen with large bezels at the top and bottom along with the Touch ID button. However, it hosts a better camera and processor over the iPhone 8. Besides, the iPhone SE buyers will also get a free year for the Apple TV Plus subscription. It comes in three color variants of Black, White and Product Red. Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said:

“iPhone SE features the industry-leading performance of A13 Bionic that enables great battery life, takes stunning Portrait mode and Smart HDR photos, shoots amazing videos with stereo audio, is great for games and super fast web surfing, and is built with the same industry-leading security features our customers expect. We can’t wait to get iPhone SE into customers’ hands.”

However, the iPhone SE features the old Liquid Crystal Display technology instead of the new and advanced Organic Light Emitting Diode screens.

Apple’s Manufacturing Aims to Return to Normalcy

The Coronavirus outbreak in China has caused a major disruption to Apple’s production output. Since several factories were shut down during the crisis situation, Apple customers were witnessing a delay in their order. While things continue to remain uncertain in the U.S, China, on the other hand, is resuming back to normalcy.

Apple has yet again started it production from China for its products. The tech giant will start taking pre-orders for the iPhone SE from April 17 and start the delivery by April 24. Apple’s release of an affordable handset comes just at a time when the U.S. and other countries are facing severe economic meltdown. However, Apple has launched its iPhone SE with a major focus on emerging markets.

The coronavirus pandemic hasn’t stopped Apple from releasing new products in the market. Before the iPhone SE, the tech giant launched its iPad Pro and MacBook Air last month.

Meanwhile, yesterday AAPL stock lost 0.91% and closed at $284.43. Now in the pre-market, it is 1.10% up, at $287.56.

Think Different? Bitcoin Makes Trillion-Dollar Apple Look Like A Non Starter

Apple may have become the world’s first trillion-dollar company — but in Bitcoin terms, its performance is as flat as an iPhone 8.
