Ureeqa introduces a solution to piracy and copyright threats plaguing NFT industry

UREEQA announced on Tuesday the launch of a new minimum viable product (MVP) for protecting and monetizing creative work. The MVP launch is scheduled for Wednesday and and follows a four-month closed beta and testing period by Bryce Soderberg of Lifehouse, Vapor95, and other renowned creators, Ureeqa said in a press release obtained by Invezz.

Solution to fundamental copyright issues

About one year ago, Ureeqa’s founders discovered some basic issues with the NFT infrastructure that could influence its popularization going forward. The platform discovered a solution to the security problem with many NFTs being stored on centralized servers. Through this solution, creators can submit their work on the Ethereum (ETH/USD) blockchain via Ureeqa, creating a public, immutable timestamp for it.

Additional protection comes in the form of submissions to the Ureeqa Premium Protected Collection. A validator network validates the time when the creator’s work came into existence and whether it really is their work before it enters the collection. Protectors will support creative work in the collection. They will work to detect unlawful use of their work and bring it to the creator’s attention. This can be used as proof to build a package of evidence against infringing parties. Harsch Khandelwal, CEO of Ureeqa said in the press release:

The NFT industry is exposed to the same piracy and copyright threats that have plagued the digital music and movie industry for a long time. UREEQA is an opportunity to stop copyright infringement in its tracks and provide an entire infrastructure as well as checks and balances system that will help move NFTs from trendy to trusted.

Users can place their work within free staking pools with the launch on June 30, where the community can vote on which works will be minted Responsibly™. Nominated works can be entered into a pool for private sponsorship or the creator can pay to enter them in the public beta.
