#BitcoinTwitter and #CryptoTwitter! Square is hiring 3-4 crypto engineers and 1 designer to work full-time on open source contributions to the bitcoin/crypto ecosystem. Work from anywhere, report directly to me, and we can even pay you in bitcoin! Introducing @SqCrypto. Why?

Dorsey decided to launch the crypto project after a discussion with Square employee Mike Brock. Brock emphasized that the most impactful way for Square to help the crypto environment is to “pay people to make the broader crypto ecosystem better.” Dorsey promptly to action.

The perks? You get paid in bitcoin, work from anywhere in the world, and work directly under Dorsey himself.

Chicago, Chicago, That Crypto Town: On Monday, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel spoke about the city’s upcoming FinTech movement. He, of course, couldn’t ignore blockchain and cryptocurrency. He lauded the new technology, stating that some country is going to figure out “how to use cryptocurrencies to stay alive when they’re facing a financial crisis, and then you’re going to find out that this moment has arrived.”

Emanuel wants Chicago to not just be a crypto hub, but more generally, a hub for financial technology. When asked about building Chicago as a crypto hub, he notes, “I wouldn’t limit it to cryptocurrency… There’s a lot of other things that go on in the financial or in FinTech that is necessary and has to be researched, but I see the hottest thing right now is in that space.”

Although Emanuel is leaving his position as mayor in two months, he’ll pass along his initiatives to whoever fills his shoes.
