Theta Network, a decentralized data and video blockchain company, has announced that it will now work with Folding@Home, one of the world’s most extensive supercomputing systems. In the announcement, Theta Network gave details of how they would spearhead the technology needed by Folding@home to get faster progress of its future initiatives.

The development of Theta nodes devices will lead to more contributions being made with Theta Fuel tokens that will highly complement Folding@home’s projects, including its efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The joint venture of Folding@home and Theta brings advanced technologies from both sides. These systems are mainly powered to function with a high degree of efficiency to produce more precise results ready for testing in the real world.

The CEO of Theta Labs, Mitch Liu, stated,

“Folding@home integration is a great initial test of Theta’s edge computing capabilities, as both initiatives are on the cutting edge of technology powered by a network of edge devices.”

He added,

“We’re excited that the Theta community can participate in meaningful ways to help develop a COVID antiviral, and at the same time leverage blockchain technology to further increase transparency and trust with network participants.”

Since its launch in 2000, Folding@home has further developed its computing project to work with more diseases. Their simulation systems have also included the current COVID-19 virus that has caused havoc around the world. The new introduction of screening SARS for drugs that could prove useful in combating the disease had made a lot of progress in the research institutions. The technology had increased the amount of data necessary for more progress towards developing the COVID-19 vaccine.

The technologies employed by Theta and Folding@home come with increased transparency creating trust within the network by all participants. According to an assessment by both firms, such a system will include many complexities within the network. Some of these integrated features would consist of data-intensive computational processes, solving complex problems, more advanced blockchain features, video ingestion, transcoding, and many more that are yet to be discovered.

Theta has included significant capabilities that have made it possible to partner with Folding@home to create a more powerful decentralized network. Some of these include; bandwidth sharing. The sharing process has been enabled through peer-to-peer networks and a secure protocol support level for all the users, whose number is expected to grow as the network develops further.
