Soupernerd’s BCH-Powered Paybutton.Cash Enters Pre-Release and Testing Phase

2019-2-7 04:52

Paybutton.cash is a program that has been in the worlds for a while, and developer Soupernerd has made some headway. In an annoucement on February 5th, the developer confirmed that this BCH-powered payment button had reached the testing and pre-release phase.

This button will ultimately just feature a payment button, but the technology and implementation are just the foundation that will spur other features over time.

With the button, anyone can send bitcoin cash as a gift, payment, or even a tip to creators, services, and websites. The developer was clear that the full release of the application is still a work in progress, and that the testing phase is being held up due to Badger Wallet updates. However, one updated, the payment option will be available for testing.

Posting to a Reddit forum, Soupernerd explained, “Paybutton.cash is pleased to announce our pre-release launch and testing phase. Host a paybutton on your site with just snippet of code and convert 160+ currencies to BCH live — [Paybutton] is fully hosted on GitHub.”

Both the Badger Wallet and Bitcoin.com development teams have been essential to the creation and use of the platform. There are additional plans that the developer has in mind right now, with one idea from Soupernerd being a static badge concept.

The Reddit thread included images of the donation badge, along with a “Paybutton Cart.” This idea is not elaborated on in the moment but is instead promised to have “more on that later.” Soupernerd adds,

“We will keep the pre-release folders up, even upon new releases until further notice.”

Though in the early development stages, the Paybutton platform will be joining two other projects involving BCH payment button applications. These ideas started being developed upon when Ryan X Charged decided to support the BSV coin and pull the Bitcoin Cash support from Money Button.

After Money Button left, the Badger Wallet team had been working on refinements and adjustments to the button. Still, one of the nearest competitors for Money Button is Gateway.cash.

A developer for Gateway.cash said in November, “Gateway.cash will be a Money Button competitor for bitcoin cash and is now released open-source — The project is led by Ty Everett and he is looking for contributors.”

Luckily, the annoucement that Soupernerd posted to Reddit has received an enthusiastic respond, as supporters are excited to take part in a payment button that is specific to cryptocurrency.

One supporter has their own idea of how payment buttons will majorly transform the internet, saying,

“Looks cool. For those that don’t get the significance it allows anyone without programming skills to more easily accept BCH — For example, tons of people have blogs or various other web presences where they can post raw HTML for visitors to see. Without coding skills, if Rick wants to take $1.50 donations for his blog posts he can at best post his BCH address.”

Visit https://github.com/PayButton/paybutton.github.io to see the Paybutton code. On the pre-release page, visitors to the website can test the Paybutton, though the rest of the progress needs to be made before it is launched in a full release.

The website indicates, “We’re working hard to finish the development and our target launch date is Q1 2019.”
