It was high time that the blockchain industry started recognizing excellence through awards of its own. The Maltese government went on to take the initiative, blessed with the presence of several blockchain and crypto entities. At the Malta Blockchain Week, OKEx was declared as the “Cryptocurrency Exchange of the Year 2018.”

Powerful Recognition of the Exchange

OKEx, the Chinese cryptocurrency exchange, went through some tough times in the past one year. The government in mainland China grew hostile towards the crypto sector and began an extensive clampdown on the cryptocurrency exchanges. Following this, OKEx sought refuge in Malta, a small European nation that intends to become the “Blockchain Island.”

Apart from these issues, the exchange currently handles the largest volume of crypto trades in the world, which is in excess of $770 million per day. It is also partnering with the Malta Stock Exchange to establish the OKMSX, a joint-venture security token that will take the country’s blockchain ambition one step ahead.

OKEx Keeps Going Stronger

Jovan Gavrilovic, the General Manager of the exchange, expressed gratitude for the award and said that this is a moment that the entire team is proud of. He added:

“At OKeX, we have this motto, ‘It’s OK to be daring.’ So, what does it mean to be daring? For us, to be daring is to be a leader, to be bold, and to be courageous, and to move forward in the wake of uncertainty, and these are the same exact traits we saw in Malta.”

Head if Operations at OKEx Andy Cheung said that these awards are “gratifying” because they show that the industry leaders have confidence in the exchange and its ongoing efforts. He noted further that the exchange would keep innovating and pushing the limits as the award is a testament to its efforts in the blockchain and crypto industry.

OKEx received the award beating Binance, the largest crypto exchange in the world.
