HOLOCHAIN Previews Updates With The Release Of The RUST Dev Pulse 01

Holochain sees a lot of activity lately, and its mainstream attention is presenting an innovative challenge for its development team to achieve its blockchain-less approach to the cryptocurrency. The firm often works with the motto of the “blockchain thinking outside the blocks”, and some exciting developments are stemming regarding this project.

Holochain recently brought to light a new Developer Preview release which the HOT dev. team has been working on. In the press release, Holochain looks to also rebuild the Rust, and this could be a significant boost for the Holochain Network.

Additionally, the development team does acknowledge the effort they have put into bringing back the Holochain Rust Refractor and improve its core functionality set. The release will also aim to develop the code development experience of users, test powerful macros, introduce a modular framework while also assist the version of the upcoming RUST HDK.

A first highlight of the Rust preview release is the initial Holochain Rust Developer preview release that was made available in the Rust HDK as of October 27th. Persistence implementations were part of the application, and now Holochain instance user can start their service and kill it without losing past work.

The new Rust version introduces a JSON package file format that will hold everything related to each member's DNA. However, Holochain informs us of the fact that have now introduced Web Assembly as the primary language build and have to retire JavaScript and Lisp. The move will lead to more support more languages for free and enable faster code running. But Holochain confesses that functions could become much low-level and require a hands-on approach.

Holochain could also add a new stack that is exponentially more modular than the initial version. The rebuilt will encompass a new set of target systems, pluggable GUIs, different storage backends and platforms. The careful architectural decision is paying dividends with the innovations enabling many other possibilities such as the flexible persistence API

Lastly, Holochain introduced an innovative entity in the form of what they called “containers“. The development team explains that the containers knit together all Holochain data and applications in under one comprehensive interface. The containers will be of two kind, holochain-cmd and Holosqape, with the latter acting as a proof of concept. The Holochain-cmd will be the command-line container for testing, activating and building applications.

Holochain recent updates are by no means the first as the crypto has been surging in the market for the past week. Some of the highlights to accompany the market trends included the recently the wrapped up DEvCamp Alpha event held for developers, and subsequent creation of the Holo-World tutorial app in Rust. The week's development progress also saw some bug fixes, code cleanup and improvement of the internal processes. The Holochain development team even to time to publish the Holochain book including example codes that are in line with the API reference. All these advances indicate Holochain's commitment to cultivating an era of crypto development.
