The Elixxir blockchain, a next-generation platform designed for the mass adoption of blockchain, recently announced strategic investments from blockchain behemoths. The platform was launched during the Consensus Singapore event by revered cryptographer David Chaum.

As per Elixxir’s announcement, Ripple cofounder Chris Larsen and Singapore-based H&D Company Pte Ltd. have become seed investors in the project.

H&D Company commented on the investment, saying that they are working with Elixxir to “give everyone the opportunity to build wealth by investing in products that are currently out of reach. We value David Chaum’s experience and innovations in cryptography and shared vision to create a more vibrant and sustainable future.”

Larsen also commented on Chaum’s expertise in the cryptography sector. He said:

“David Chaum has been a defender of privacy in the digital world for almost forty years. I am proud to be an early backer of Elixxir and look forward to seeing this consumer-facing blockchain open the door to secure use by millions of individuals in their daily lives.”

The platform’s architecture was built in “stealth mode” in 2015, and the project-specific development began in 2016. The platform provides secure and confidential communication of sensitive financial information between parties. It received more than 1,500 sign-ups from interested parties who wanted to join the network nodes of the blockchain. More than 500 developers also showed an interest in working on decentralized applications on the distributed ledger.

The reason behind this interest is Elixxir’s unique design, which can process hundreds of thousands of transactions in seconds. Not only is the scale of the transactions massive, but the transactions are quantum resistant as well. Additionally, the Elixxir network works at a fraction of the energy needed to run Bitcoin, which solves the energy debacle in the crypto and blockchain industry and provides a more sustainable model for stakeholders.
