In Response to its Noise Levels: A Norwegian Crypto Mining Company Receives a Bomb Threat

Mining can be a truly loud experience for anyone that's ever been near a mine, but apparently, for a number of very agitated individuals, one particular Norwegian Cryptocurrency mining company was going beyond the pale.

It was reported this week that KryptoVault, a mining company, received a bomb threat from an unknown source, while also being accused of ‘sabotaging the peace' with the noise they produced. The threats came just days after a local news outlet reported on the activity of KryptoVault and its various mining sites across the city.

According to a source, the individual threatening the company was quoted as saying:

“if you are expanding crypto mining and filling the country with noise, then you will be sabotaging the peace. I am threatening to send you some explosives.”

A bomb threat, no matter how genuine, should never be taken lightly, that's definitely the perspective of KryptoVault's managing director, Gjermund Hagesaeter, who made a statement after the subsequent threat was made to staff. Hagesaeter was reported as saying that he, and the local authorities are “taking the whole issue very seriously indeed.”

To suggest that the would-be terrorists are the only ones that have raised the issue regarding noise would be untrue, however. This is because noise complaints have been an endemic issue with those living in and around the premises, which KryptoVault occupy, for their mining operations.

Back in June, for example, the Vakdalposten newspaper, a local newpaper outlet, had previously reported that the managing team of KryptoVault had hosted a series of consultation meetings with neighbors and residents of the city of Dale as an attempt to find out how to redress this ongoing problem.

Given the very recent events, more than a consultation with the local community will cut it, it seems. The company has had to draw up new assessments on the appropriate course of action so as to minimize noise disruption while also safeguarding KryptoVaults employees from those disgruntled enough to take such drastic actions.

In a conversation with Yahoo Finance, Hagesaeter stipulated that, of all of the cities that were assessed as locations for their mining operations, Dale was one of the ‘more accessible' for potential intruders to one or more of their mining sites. In light of this fact, KryptoVault management has taken it upon themselves to warn their employees to ‘be on their toes' in noticing any suspicious activities in and around KryptoVault facilities.

While the cryptocurrency market continues to prove itself as a lucrative field for investors and businesses, the profession of mining is one of the associated industries that has become continually lucrative. This is especially true with the professionalization of mining, in conjunction with an ever increasing demand for crypto assets such as Bitcoin.

But while the demand is feverish, the sophistication of capacity and overall hardware is necessary in order to match up to the current hash rate of cryptos. Meaning that the demand in terms of local tolerance for noise, along with electricity, is climbing just as high as supply and demand.
