The leading cryptocurrency platform Coinbase has added support for Dogecoin among the several coins it supports. Announcing the support today, Coinbase said users can store their digital assets directly on the Coinbase Wallet app.
The service is immediately available to both iOS and Android users with the Coinbase wallet app. For Dogecoin users who do not already have the Coinbase wallet, it can be easily installed from Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS users. The wallet also supports the DOGE Testnet as a perk for developers using the wallet as well as for power users.
Coinbase already supports a myriad of other cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum Classic, XRP, Stellar Lumens, and over 100,000 different ERC20 tokens and ERC721 collectibles built on Ethereum.
Its goal is to add support for as many digital assets as possible and make purchases, storage and transfer of cryptocurrencies as seamless and secure as possible. Adding Dogecoin to its long list of supported assets is another step towards achieving this goal.
More assets are to be added as time goes on and as Coinbase users recommend as most supported digital assets were added based on users’ recommendations.
Apart from being a wallet, Coinbase is one of the top cryptocurrency exchanges in the cryptocurrency industry. It is committed to promoting knowledge about cryptocurrencies in a way no other exchange does.
Through its “learn and earn: program, Coinbase has brought thousands of people to learn about cryptocurrencies while paying them with the same digital assets as an incentive to encourage learning particularly in the United States.
Dogecoin is mainly a tipping coin used on social media and websites to reward authors and content creators. It was designed to reach a wider user base the first cryptocurrency Bitcoin and to add a little fun to the cryptocurrency technology idea.
It is currently the 27th largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of $302 million. Hopefully, its addition on the Coinbase wallet will widen its user base to include the millions of Coinbase wallet users worldwide.
