China’s Blockchain Service Network (BSN) to Split After Public Chain Integration Disagreement

China Blockchain Service Network consortium splits into two independent entities after failing to agree on the integration of public chains. The BSN China will be dominated by the state-owned players while the BSN International will be backed by the private company Red Date.

China's Blockchain Service Network Alliance has announced a split into two independent operations. This split is believed to have been brought about by differences in ideologies regarding the potential integration of public chains.

The Alliance launched in April comprises of an array of state-backed corporations: China Union Pay, China Mobile Communication Corporation led by State Information Center, and a privately owned company Red Date. The latter will lead the ‘BSN International' while the state-owned entities onboard the ‘BSN China.'

The six public chains: Tezos, China originated NEO and Nervos, Cosmos, IRISnet, Ethereum, and EOS that onboarded in April had already been integrated with BSN global version to provide developers with infrastructure that is bandwidth and data storage to support their nodes and dApps.

This will be run through their three data centers in Hong Kong, Paris, and San Francisco. The standard environment will potentially cut developer costs since they won’t need to reconfigure their systems to sync to utilize the facilities. They will enjoy free services as long as the number of requests doesn’t surpass the 2000 threshold.

Although there are several open-source nodes availed to Blockchain projects, they don’t often ensure stability considering how hard they could be to sync with once the connection is lost. In comparison with the enterprise nodes available, which require the developers to part with thousands of dollars, the BSN nodes only need a few hundred dollars to maintain fully.

Red Date CEO, Yifan He, was excited at the prospect of being part of the first state-backed Blockchain infrastructure to extend support to developer communities outside Chinese jurisdiction.

Despite the split resulting in two different parties, 5 of BSN China Nodes will be linked with BSN international in full compliance with the Chinese regulatory framework.
