Charlie Shrem Affirms He Never Owned Any Bitcoin The Winklevosses Are Claiming He Stole

2018-11-7 09:33

Charlie Shrem, an early Bitcoin entrepreneur, has been denying the accusations that he stole 5,000 BTC from Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, known as the Winklevoss’ brothers. The information comes from a recently published court filling of the case which was filed this week in the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Shrem affirms that the two Winklevoss brothers are “dead wrong” that the stole the money and has argued against freezing his assets. The brothers sued him in September claiming that they paid him about $1 million USD to buy Bitcoin in September 2012 and that the did not deliver the 5,000 coins that he should give them, keeping them for himself instead. At the moment, they would be worth $32 million USD.

He claims to never have access to the money and claims that the actual wallet with the 5,000 BTC belonged to another person whom he assisted. At no point, he affirms, he had access to the money. This other person was helped by Shrem to transfer the 5,000 BTC into a cold storage wallet in 2012. He also affirms that this money was never moved again.

Because of this, he claims, he never really actually owned any of these assets and therefore could not be responsible for stealing them as they were not actually his or in his possession.

About the complaint that we spent the Bitcoin buying a $2 million USD property, cars and boats, he claims that after leaving jail, he had a net worth of less than $100,000 USD and had to work at a restaurant and a variety of jobs that allowed him to accumulate money to restore himself financially.

He also claimed to have paid all the money that he owed the authorities for running an unlicensed money-transmitting business in 2014, which lead him to jail in the first place.

Shrem has fiercely opposed that the justice should freeze his assets and claimed that the Winklevoss brothers have not been able to prove that he actually stole the money from them, so there was no reason to freeze his assets.

The representants of all the involved in the case declined to answer all the questions that were made by the media so far about this case and the recent information that has come to light.

Who do you believe is right? Is Shrem innocent or is it too strange how he was able to get so much money after getting out of prison? Follow the case to know his destiny.
