Blizzard softens its harsh punishment on Blitzchung after community outcry, while a blockchain-backed rival attracts top talent to platform

Blizzard is in full damage-control mode this morning as the widespread fallout from the Blitzchung ban continues unabated. In the latest turn of events, the company behind the hugely popular digital collectible card game, Hearthstone, has decided to return Blitzchung’s prize money and unban the Taiwanese casters who hosted the match.
In the wake of mass layoffs that saw over 800 employees leave the company back in early 2019, Blizzard is once again hiring for identical positions in what ex-employees are branding a cynical move.
It’s been a brutal few months for Activision Blizzard Inc. stock. Shares have fallen 51% since in October 2018, with little sign of easing up. Tonight, Activision reports its fourth-quarter earnings after the US market closes.
