Blockchained Mobility Hackathon, a massive blockchain event supported and hosted by Datarella, brought major sponsors from the mobility industry. These include the IOTA Foundation and partners from BMW Group, Amadeus, Volkswagen, Deutsche Telekom, Bosch and Deutsche Bahn. Fourteen teams were set to offer blockchain solutions for the mobility industry as part of the main theme of event — competition and collaboration.

Three IOTA Use Cases Win the Competition in Munich

During the weekend from July 20 to July 22 at Blockchained Mobility Hackathon in Munich, Germany, over 150 participants and 14 contestants attended the meetup in order to present solutions through blockchain technology.

On this occasion, Dominik Schiener, cofounder of the IOTA token, shared the news about the three winning contestants, stating that all the winning solutions utilized IOTA technology.

In a more detailed report on the event, Lewis Freiberg, director of the IOTA ecosystem, published a piece on Medium on August 12, stating that the main goal of the event was to develop solutions for the mobility industry while mainly using Ethereum and IOTA distributed ledger technologies (DLTs).

The solutions that the 14 contestants presented to the judging team showcased “the versatility and impact that DLTs have on Mobility,” as concluded by Freiberg.

The Winning Projects at Blockchained Mobility Hackathon

Freiberg stated further in the official event report that 9 out of the 14 contestants used IOTA technology in their presentations, while all three winners of the event utilized IOTA.

The first place went to MaaS, a project presenting a solution for enabling dynamic payment and pricing mechanisms for mobility users and providers, while using IOTA. The second place went to Distributed Dingsbums Finder, who used both Ethereum and IOTA in its solution, which can help electric vehicle drivers in finding, accessing and paying at charge points. On the other hand, the project called Pac-Man-on-Wheels took the third place, which presented a solution for earning IOTA by providing training data for autonomous cars.
